While the children were being removed, the 27-year-old woman arrived at the house and told officers that she had spent the weekend with her boyfriend in Pretoria.

She also confirmed that she had left the three minor children at the house alone.

It was alleged by the neighbours that the 10-year-old was left to fend for himself and his brothers.

The neighbours informed police that a fourth child aged two was hit by a car over the weekend and was taken to hospital.

The woman told police that she was not aware of the incident.

She was placed under arrest and the children were removed from her care.

“If you see something, say something. We all know it takes a village to raise a child. Once such information is received, police have a mandate to act.

“Keep your eyes and ears open at all times and report suspicious activities. Do not fail our children as they are the future of this community.”
