Rapid Response Services make several arrests across Gauteng

These operations led to 80 arrests for serious crimes including common assault and GBV.

Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 141 suspects, recovered 53 motor vehicles and seized 16 firearms between June 16 and 22.

Members participated in various concentrated operations including vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations led to 80 arrests for serious crimes including common assault and GBV.

Other arrests were made for possession of suspected stolen goods, attempted murder, theft, malicious damage to property, warrant of arrest, possession of unpolished diamonds, reckless and negligent driving, contempt of court, burglary, contravention of a protection order, armed robbery, illegal possession of precious metals, possession of counterfeit money and possession of unlicensed ammunition.

Sixteen unlicensed firearms were recovered with 11 arrests made.

In further policing, 42 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues into all cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate courts across Gauteng.
