Kempton SAPS operation yields positive results

“They arrested four suspects for possession of drugs, one for dealing in drugs and one for being an illegal immigrant."

Kempton Park Police held a joint operation with Gauteng traffic wardens, patrollers and CPF under the leadership of the acting vispol commander Lieutenant Colonel Shadrack Maqcuntsu on June 15 in Kempton Park.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, said they conducted activities such as stop-and-searches, drug enforcement, and checking for liquor compliance and second-hand goods during the operation.

She explained the acting station commander, Colonel Motsatsi Lesomo, also gave something to eat and clothing to the vagrants at Langenhoven Street in celebration of youth month under the theme of ‘youth on the street’.

“The operation continued to the EP Malan informal settlement, where the team closed shebeens and confiscated alcohol. They also found dagga and a dangerous weapon,” said Ditshego.

She added in a separate incident during the search; the team arrested a suspect for dealing in drugs. They also found an amount of R4 890 on the suspect.

In addition, Ditshego said all these suspects will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate Court soon.
