A total of 470 suspects were recently arrested for various offences.

This was a result of the ongoing simultaneous police and other law enforcement agencies operations conducted across the Ekurhuleni district.
In Sebenza, five suspects were arrested by members of Crime Prevention.
According to the district commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole, officers were conducting stop-and-search operations.
“The suspects were apprehended for being in possession of an illegal firearm and 12 rounds of ammunition and a 55 cm LG TV suspected to be stolen,” said Captain Neldah Sekgobela.
In Primrose, Germiston, a male suspect was intercepted with containers of petrol.

According to Sekgobela, the man was believed to have been sent to buy the petrol to be used during a protest.
“The suspect was spotted with the containers. When members of crime intelligence approached him to be questioned, he ran away and vanished into the bushes.
“The three five-litre containers were confiscated and booked in at Primrose Police Station.
“Other suspects were nabbed fro crimes such as murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, house burglary and theft, rape, assault, contempt of court, armed and common robbery, business robbery, tampering with essential infrastructure, dealing in liquor without a license, illegal immigrant, fraud, kidnapping, reckless and negligent driving, burglary and theft,” said Sekgobela.
