Man caught with drugs worth over R1- million at the OR Tambo

The elderly man was allegedly found in possession of 8kgs of pure heroin concealed in his travelling bag.

An intelligence-driven operation yielded desired results when police arrested a 69-year-old man at the OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) on October 12.

The male suspect was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs to India.

Counter Narcotics Intelligence Head Office, Organised Crime Narcotics Head Office and K9 Unit West Rand operationalised the intelligence information they received and intercepted the man as he attempted to board a flight destined for India.

A 69-year-old male suspect was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on October 12 on charges of possession of and dealing drugs.

 

The elderly man allegedly had 8kgs of pure heroin concealed in his travelling bag.

The drugs’ estimated street value is approximately R1 216 000.

The suspect was detained, pending his appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
