EMPD manage to arrest 125 suspects for various offenses

It is believed the money was stolen during a recent ATM bombing in Thembisa.

The EMPD arrested 125 suspects between March 3 and 5.

According to the Kempton Park SAPS corporate communications officer, Captain Jethro Mtshali, firearms, ammunition, explosives and stained money were among the items found in possession of the arrested suspects.

“All the crime prevention operations yielded positive results in Kempton Park.

“Among those arrested were three suspects for possession of three firearms, ammunition, explosives and stained money believed to be involved in ATM bombings that recently happened in Thembisa.

“The arrests were made by the Tactical Response Team from Pretoria when following up on information.

“On March 4, the Kempton Park SAPS embarked on an intensive operation which led to the arrest of more than 20 undocumented persons.

“Other stations within the precinct had their normal crime prevention operations on the day as well.

“Suspects were arrested for crimes such as murder, hijackings, robberies, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of drugs and dealing in drugs, armed robbery, housebreaking and many more,” said Mtshali.

Ekurhuleni district commander Major General Anna Sithole, commended all the officers, CPF officials, neighbourhood watch members, security personnel and immigration officers involved in the operations.
