Cyclist killed, taxi driver charged after Old Pretoria Road collision

It is believed that a cyclist using blue BMX bicycle, was travelling in a northerly direction, when a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi, knocked him over.

EMPD officers responded to a crash involving a cyclist on Old Pretoria Road between the R23 and Vlei Street in Glen Marais on February 13.

It is believed that a cyclist using a blue BMX bicycle was travelling in a northerly direction when a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi knocked him over.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, paramedics certified the cyclist dead at the scene.

The cyclist was dragged underneath the taxi for a few meters.

The body of the cyclist was transported Germiston government mortuary and a case of capable homicide was opened at the Kempton Park Police Station.
