Help CoE draft new water service by-laws

The Draft Water Services By-law intends to give effect to clause 11 Chapter 3 of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997)

The City of Ekurhuleni has called on members of the community to participate in the process of drafting the new water service by-laws.

The by-law intends to give effect to clause 11 chapter three of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997), which puts a duty to the city as a water service authority to progressively ensure efficient, affordable, economical and sustainable access to water services to all consumers and/or potential consumers in its area of jurisdiction.

Any person who desires to comment on the proposed City of Ekurhuleni by-laws draft may lodge such comments in writing by no later than March 31, 2023, electronically at Waterservicebylaw@ekurhuleni.gov.za

Comments can also be directed to the office of the head of the department of water and sanitation, City of Ekurhuleni, the sixth-floor office of the civic centre, corner Trichardts and Market streets in Boksburg.

Alternatively, members of the public may go to their nearest customer care centre, where they will be assisted in submitting their comments.

Public meetings will take place soon to elaborate on the process.

These will take place as follows:

• Kempton Park: March 27, at the Kempton Park civic centre hall

• Thembisa: March 31 at the Rabasotho hall.
