Thembisa netball teams receive sponsorship

Together, the Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) and Hatfield Motor Group have sponsored Thembisa's netball teams.

The Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) has backed netball to be part of the growing association by creating a platform for 16 teams around Thembisa to participate in a year-long league.

TUFA teamed up with the Hatfield Motor Group and announced the sponsorship on January 17 at Makhulong Stadium in Thembisa.

Thembisa’s netball girls are excited about the new sponsorship.

TUFA aims to increase participation in netball around Thembisa by transitioning street netball to a more professional setup.

According to netball coordinator Nthabeleng Molepo, TUFA aims to strengthen social inclusion and promote voluntary activities among girls in the community.

“As the official sponsor of the TUFA netball league the Hatfield Motor Group has sponsored all 16 teams with netball equipment which includes balls, whistles, bibs, socks and training equipment.

“The group is also giving a prize of R10 000 to the winning netball team at the end of the season.

“The minimal support from parents, local companies and the community has made it more difficult for us as netball to get recognised.

“This platform created by TUFA and the motor group has empowered these young girls to be more confident in netball as it opens more doors and gives the girls exposure.

“Local teams around Thembisa are truly grateful to Mr Mnisi, TUFA and the Hatfield Motor Group for this opportunity. Teams are excited to kick off this season,” said Molepe.
