This is due to the worrisome food shortage at the local society.

It is for this reason that the local society is reaching out to the community for help.

“We appeal to the community to please assist us.

“We use, on average, 40 to 60kg of dog food daily, which also depends on how many dogs we have in our care and their needs a some dogs eat more, are bigger or more energetic.

“We are in need of dog and cat pellets, and when people consider to buy, if possible, can they opt to get puppy food because adults can eat puppy food but puppies can’t eat adult food,” said Kira Sparrow, manager at the Kempton Park SPCA.

“To keep up with the amount of animals in our kennels is no easy feat and it is for this reason that we also ask the community to please consider donating a bag of food monthly for us to ensure that we have enough food for the pets in our care.

“No animal deserves to go to bed hungry.

“Monetary donations are also welcome and would greatly be appreciated.”
