Man gets 25 years for the murder of Ivory Park Constable

"He was arrested in Johannesburg for possession of the late officer’s state-issued firearm and attempted murder."

A man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of an Ivory Park police constable.

“Akim Phathisani Masuku, a Zimbabwean national, was sentenced by the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court on August 18,” said Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Captain Ben Matimulane.

This follows the murder of Constable Tshifhiwa Evans Manyuwa in 2016.

“Masuku was first arrested in November 2016. He was arrested in Johannesburg for possession of the late officer’s state-issued firearm and attempted murder,” said Matimulane.

“Ivory Park SAPS commends the work done to ensure this conviction,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS.
