18-year-old caught with drugs in Birchleigh North

According to Sergeant Barbara-Anne Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the officers were patrolling the area before the arrest.

Members from Norkem Park SAPS’ crime prevention unit arrested an 18-year-old male suspect on two charges.

The teenage boy was arrested on August 22 in Lydia Street, Birchleigh North.

According to Sergeant Barbara-Anne Ferreira, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the officers were patrolling the area before the arrest.

“Members also performed random stop-and-searches while patrolling the area. They searched the 18-year-old suspect, who is a learner at one of the local high schools,” said Ferreira.

“They found the male selling dagga in the street. On investigation, it was also found that the suspect was in possession of counterfeit money.

“Some of the money found in his possession is real money while the other notes were counterfeit.

“The suspect was detained at Norkem Park SAPS and charged with dealing in drugs and possession of counterfeit money pending his appearance in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.”
