#ThembisaShutdown: CoE suspends burial services

"To this end, the municipality has not conducted any burials from August 1."

City of Ekurhuleni announced that due to the protest action in Thembisa over the past few days, the cemeteries and burial services have been affected by the prevailing unrests.

“To this end, the municipality has not conducted any burials from August 1.

“There were no burials scheduled for August 2 and 3,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

He said CoE will continue to monitor the situation through the division of Parks and Cemeteries.

CoE intends to resume burial operations on August 4.

Citizens who wish to make bookings for burials can utilise the nearest parks and cemeteries offices at the corner of Plein and Green avenues in Spartan or alternatively contact Motlatjo Mayisela on 011 999 3439.
