‘Microchip your pets for safety’ Kempton SPCA advises

Microchipping helps confirm ownership and speeds up time to be reunited with your pet in case they go missing.

Pet owners are invited to bring their furry friends to the Kempton Park SPCA for microchipping.

Kira Sparrow, manager at the Kempton Park SPCA, said: “We have a lot of missing animals, especially cats that are simply not reclaimed.

“We are unsure why but if they were microchipped we would be able to reunite them with their families within hours.

“For the safety of your pets, please microchip them.

“There are a lot of benefits that come with getting your pet microchipped as it confirms ownership (collars and tags can fall off) and it speeds up the time to be reunited with your pet in the event he/she goes missing.”

Microchipping will be done at the local society from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 10:00.

“If your pet is not chipped yet, please make an appointment for chipping between July and August; we are running a microchipping special of R200 per chip and our target is to chip 67 animals (and more would be even better) as part of our Mandela Day campaign,” said Sparrow.

“Call our offices to make a booking.”
