Kempton Park Shebeens closed and three offenders arrested

During the operation, focus was on setting up of roadblocks, raiding shebeens, stop-and-searches and patrolling all hot spots.

Alcohol was seized from three shebeens around Kempton Park during the hihg-density crime prevention operation held over the weekend.

Kempton Park SAPS’s Crime Prevention unit worked together with EMPD on the operation held on Saturday and Sunday in Kempton Park.

“During the operation, the focus was on setting up of roadblocks, raiding shebeens, stop-and-searches and patrolling all hot spots areas,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“The operation yielded positive results as about three people were arrested for allegedly driving motor vehicles while suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

About three shebeens were found to not be in compliance with the Liquor Act. Liquor was seized, the shebeens were closed and fines worth about R1 500 were issued.

 

Mtshali said two suspects were arrested for allegedly being in possession of suspected drugs.

“One suspect was arrested in Pretoria Road and the other suspect was arrested in Rhodesfield,” said Mtshali.

“About three shebeens were found to not be in compliance with the Liquor Act. Liquor was seized, the shebeens were closed and fines worth about R1 500 were issued.

“One of the shebeens is in a Bonaero Park informal settlement and two in EP Malan, Pomona.”

Brig Lindani Ndlovu, station commander at the Kempton Park Police Station, was pleased with the operation and applauded all members for the hard work to ensure the community of Kempton Park is free from crime.
