Based in Endulwini section the community development centre aims to improve the quality of life of South Africans, encourage the spirit of volunteerism, accountability, respect for the rule of law and promote good governance.

According to the founder, Aaron Maepa, the organisation relies on local and international support and is grounded in its commitment to sustainability and not for the profit of its members.

Ga Rona Community Development Centre in Endulwini Section has been in operation for ten years and is currently in need of support from the community.

The NPO was founded by a passionate group of community workers under the leadership of Aaron Maepa in 2012 and officially registered with the National Department of Social Development on 2013 August 15.

“We have been registered by the National Department of Social Development to run victim empowerment programmes, psycho-social services to orphans and vulnerable children, reintegration of ex-offenders into their communities as well as sports, arts and culture activities to address various social ills around Tembisa, Ivory Park, Kempton Park and surrounding areas,” said Maepa.

Maepa said the organisation has struggled to find a stable place to run its own programmes in previous years due to a lack of funding to rent an office space.

“In May 2022, a good Samaritan afforded the organisation a four-roomed zozo (shack) at the cost of R1 000 monthly rent.

“On behalf of the management of Ga Rona Community Development Centre, we request the community for donations of office furniture and equipment and more,” said Maepa.

“During the previous financial year, we managed to reach out to more than 1 200 beneficiaries through the programme of no violence against women and children including the 16 days of activism.

“Our volunteer social worker managed to assist over fifty families around the Moriting section in Thembisa.
