Mixed results for Avion cricketers

The games were played over the weekend of February 12.

Players from Avion Cricket Club had the opportunity to face several of their rivals on the field.

The games were played over the weekend of February 12.

First up was the u-8 Avion 1 side who took on Alberton.

Alberton batted first and scored 147 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs.

In their reply, Avion scored 48 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 batting overs.

Avion’s best batsman for the game was Liandro Mulder who scored 28 runs not out while the best bowler recognition went to Iwan who took three wickets for 12 runs.

Avion’s u-12 Carnival faced Springs Old Boys at Hoërskool Hugenote.

The Springs side put up a score of 118 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 22.1 overs.

Xander du Preez took three wickets for nine runs in just two overs.

Zander Hefer and Marais Bruwer followed suit with one wicket apiece.

Avion replied with 105 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 25 overs.

Marais Bruwer scored 20 runs and Christian Scheepers smashed 21 not out.

Avion u-10 Impala 1 side took on Etwatwa.

Etwatwa were all out for 43 runs in 15 overs, and in reply, Avion scored 44 runs for the loss of three wickets in 16 overs.

Nathan Pretorius hit 16 runs not out while bowler Wian Le Uys took three wickets for four runs in three overs.

The Avion u-10 Carnival side faced Springs Old Boys at Brentwood Primary School.

Avion batted first scoring 123 runs for the loss of four wickets off 25 overs.

SOB replied with 124 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, winning by three wickets.
Keegan led the Avion batters with 36 runs not out.

Divan shone with the ball taking three wickets for the loss of one wicket in three overs.

Avion’s u-8 Impala 2 side took on rivals from Kempton @ Kruin A.

Kempton batted first and set up a score of 117 runs in 20 overs.

Avion replied with 80 runs in their 20 overs.

Kempton won the match by 37 runs.

The final fixture for the weekend was between the Avion u-8 Carnival side and Thembisa.

Avion batted first and scored 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Thembisa replied with 84 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

Juandre van Rensburg led Avion’s batting attack with 29 runs not out followed by Handre Cronje with 13 runs not out.

Hanre du Preez and Stiaan van Rooyen shone with the ball taking two wickets each to secure Avion’s 61 run win.
