WO Sekaya and his team from Tinmyne SAPS claimed that in November 2021, three incidents of house robbery and murder were recorded in Tinmyne, with one of the robberies resulting in the death of a metro police officer.

“The five suspects were allegedly driving a white Citi Golf 1 with unclear registration numbers, according to an eyewitness,” said Sekaya.

Within seven days of the occurrence, a dedicated team of investigators apprehended two individuals.

The police were led to a residence in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, where a 38-year-old suspect guided them to a property in Thembisa where his accomplice was found as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Tinmyne police requested backup from Thembisa’s Sgt ME Manamela, Sgt SD Makgoka and Const Netshitangani.

We proceeded to Winnie Mandela, Zone Eight, where the suspect refused to open the door and the police had to break it open. He was found hiding in the ceiling.

“He then pointed to four 9mm pistols with serial numbers filed off, four magazines and 208 live 9mm bullets. The suspect was apprehended by Thembisa SAPS and will appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“As in the Tinmyne case, both suspects, we believe, will be linked to the primary charge of house robbery and murder,” said Sekaya.
