Almost 100 arrests made in Ekurhuleni north

One of those apprehended included a 32-year-old man who was arrested in Welamlambo on charges of rape of two girls, aged 12 and 13 years old.

Between January 14 and 16, 99 suspects were arrested by Ekurhuleni North police officers from Ivory Park, Thembisa, Thembisa South, Rabie Ridge, Olifantsfontein, Norkem Park, Kempton Park, Sebenza and Edenvale.

The arrests included 40 suspects apprehended for driving while under the influence of alcohol, with the majority of them being arrested by Thembisa South officers.

Sixteen suspects were arrested for assault, two of which were related to domestic violence and seven suspects were arrested for drug trafficking and possession.

One of those apprehended included a 32-year-old man who was arrested in Welamlambo on charges of rape of two girls, aged 12 and 13 years old. The man allegedly invited the children to his house to watch DVDs and then raped them.

Still in Thembisa South, another suspect was apprehended in Umthambeka Section for murder after a person was stabbed with a broken bottle.
