GUILTY: Two male suspects sentenced to 15 and 20 years in prison respectively

Two suspects were convicted and sentenced to 15 and 20 years imprisonment on a charge of armed robbery that dates back to December 2018.

Two male suspects prosecuted on a charge of armed robbery in 2018 were found guilty and sentenced to prison by the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on April 25.

According to Sgt Barbara Ferreira, the spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the suspects, known as S Maake and D Machavad, were sentenced to 20 and 15 years’ imprisonment respectively.

The case dates back to December 12, 2018, where a female pedestrian was approached by two armed suspects.

“At about 7am, the female pedestrian walked along Modderfontein Road on the P91 (R25) in Kempton West when she was approached by the two males. One male produced a firearm and pointed it at the victim. The other suspect grabbed her and robbed her of her handbag. They stole cash and her cellphone,” Ferreira stated.

The docket was assigned to WO LR Magaba.
