Heroic tales of surviving shared at ladies event

The focus of the event did not only centre on encouragement, but lived experiences by true survivors on an emotional, yet fun, day that will be hosted again in the foreseeable future.

An elegant ladies morning was hosted by the bountiful bunch of Kemptonians from #ComeIn, who orchestrated a platform where survivors’ tales was shared on Saturday, May 8.

Among the women sharing the stage were Lydia Roux, a life and business coach. According to the organiser of the event, Kerry-Ann Prinsloo, Roux was adored by the crowd.

“She inspired and motivated our ladies. Lydia explained to us how to change our mindsets and the ladies found her talk fantastic,” Prinsloo stated. “Then we welcomed Valery Govender, a warrant officer from SAPS at OR Tambo Airport. She was such a radiant, funny but passionate law enforcement agent. “She not only embraced sincerity and genuine seriousness for the cause that brought us all together, but she managed to invite light-hearted vibes along with the role she embodies in crime prevention.”

Govender also took a minute to thank #ComeIn as a group that reached out to take hands with the police.

Prinsloo said they welcomed two survivors, Taryn Leigh and Carey-Ann Duvenhage, who both shared their stories.

“They are two sisters who opened up about the childhood abuse that followed them all the way to adulthood. I can confidently tell you there was not a dry eye in the house.”

The owner of the venue Blue Mango Lodge, Daisy May Uyirwoth, accommodated a great turn-out of guests with good eats while sharing her input as a fellow guest speaker.

“Daisy wrapped up the heartfelt and emotional day with a talk on being a woman in today’s world,” said Prinsloo.
