Aston Manor master powerlifter still on top

He surpassed the current SA record total by 255kg and the WPC bench press world record by 30kg.

Master powerlifter and three-time Global Powerlifting Conference world champion Jan Kruger from Aston Manor took first place at the World Powerlifting Congress Power Wars in Pretoria recently.

Due to Covid-19, the competition was run as an open event, meaning there was no differentiation between juniors, seniors and masters.
Only one winner was announced per weight class.

Kruger won the 125kg open with some world-class lifting and set four new South African records in the master four (age 55 to 59) category. He surpassed the current SA record total by 255kg and the WPC bench press world record by 30kg.

Kruger is training for the WPC South African Championships in June, at which time he will attempt to beat his own SA records and set two new world records. He will then travel to Portugal in November for the world championships in Trofa.
