CoE urges protesters to refrain from vandalising road infrastructure

The City of Ekurhuleni has issued a statement in which it gives a stern warning to anyone vandalising municipal infrastructure.

Head of Department for Roads and Stormwater Sizwe Cele advises residents to not take their anger out on the City’s infrastructure during any protest action.

“Service delivery protests is not an excuse for vandalism. Peaceful marches is everybody’s right but it becomes a crime when our road infrastructure and other municipal properties are vandalised,” said Cele.

The damage to road infrastructure includes burning of tyres on the tar road, as well as breaking traffic and street lights.
