Suspects open fire through bedroom window during Birch Acres robbery

The suspects allegedly fired three shots and broke the window gaining entry into the house

A 24-year-old victim escaped being wounded during a house robbery in Birch Acres in the early morning hours on Sunday.

The victim said he was asleep when two suspects started shooting at the bedroom window.

“The suspects fired three shots and broke the window, gaining entry into the house,” said Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.

“The men then aimed the firearm towards the victim and demanded he give them money. The victim gave the suspects money and the two proceeded to take items from the house before fleeing the scene.”

The items taken include a laptop, plasma television and ID document. The estimated value of the items taken is R17 000.

The victim was not injured and a case of house robbery is under investigation.
