Bike accident on Isando Road

Biker TC Frankenberg was involved in a serious accident on Isando Road which left him with injuries to his head.

A biker hit a sandbank on Isando Road around midnight on December 14.

TC Frankenberg (32) was coming from his parents’ house in Primrose when he hit a sandbank, which is a result of the prolonged roadworks that have been happening since August. The Edleen resident did not see the sandbank because of poor visibility and no warning signs on the road.

“On numerous occasions, I have requested action to take place on this road. On August 30 I sent an email to Menzi Dlamini from the roads department, demanding urgent intervention,” said councillor Simon Lapping. “There was also another accident that caused a death on August 22. As far as I am concerned the municipality and its appointed contractors are responsible due to their negligence.”

Frankenberg is in a critical condition in a coma at Netcare Union Hospital in Alberton. He suffered serious injuries on his head which caused swelling to the brain.

“He is not doing too well. The pressure on his brain due to the swelling is still too high but the doctors are working extremely hard to keep him stable,” said councillor Tracy Lourenco. “I have requested the water department to urgently assist with flashing warning lights but so far this has not come to light. This road is a serious concern and the department needs to take this seriously.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife Charmaine and two-year-old daughter Raven,” concluded Lourenco.
