Local family in dire straits after fire destroys their home

After purchasing a motorbike to help make ends meet, it was damaged and their property and important documents burnt to the ground.

A young couple in dire straits has turned to EXPRESS to ask for assistance after losing their valuables in a fire on July 13.

Jacobus (35) and Anne (27) Meintjies said 2017 had not been kind to them because everything had just been going from bad to worse.

“I am a qualified technician who specialises in vehicle tracking but at the moment I am unemployed and have been doing odd jobs to make ends meet. I lost two vehicles to theft and used my last money to buy a motorbike to try and put food on the table for my wife and five-year-old son by transporting things but that bike is damaged.
