Ward 91 residents can still register for by-election

A by-election will take place on August 23

THE voter registration weekend in Ward 91 during the first weekend of July went smoothly.

The registration weekend was held in anticipation of the by-election in the ward which will take place on August 23, following the resignation of DA Ward Councillor Johann Jordaan.

According to the IEC, in all 228 registrations and 202 inspections were recorded during the weekend.

Voters still have until July 20 to visit their local IEC office on the ground floor at Kempton Park Civic Centre either to register or update their voting details.

Ward 91 includes Norkem Park, Birchleigh North, Esselen Park Ext 1 and Witfontein.

Alternatively, voters can visit the IEC website www.elections.org.za to update their details. The Ward 91 voter’s roll will close on July 21 when the by-election will be proclaimed.

The cut-off date for candidates to register to contest the by-election is July 31.

Applications for special votes will open on August 7 and close on August 11.

Special votes at voting stations and special vote home visits will take place on August 22 from 8am to 5pm.
