Pam Golding helps kick off Operation Anti-freeze blanket drive

They will continue to collect blankets, beanies and scarves throughout the year in preparation for next winter

OPERATION Anti-freeze kicked off its annual blanket drive project with the help of Pam Golding’s Winter Warmer Charity Drive on May 27.

The drive was held at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre to collect blankets, beanies and warm clothing which will be distributed to those in need in the community.

Operation Anti-freeze is a non-profit organisation in Kempton Park and has reached out to underprivileged men, women and children throughout Ekurhuleni since 2000.

They support over 500 children in 11 schools by providing monthly food parcels as well as stationery, school uniforms and blankets in winter. They also run a monthly soup kitchen in Kempton Park where they feed and give food parcels to about 600 people.

“We are truly grateful to Pam Golding for getting involved in our Winter Woolies Drive and for organising the charity drive. Thanks to Maxi’s as well who gave out free coffee vouchers to everyone who donated on the day,” said project coordinator and fundraiser for Operation Anti-freeze, Hilary Tolmay.

Operation Anti-freeze received nine collection boxes full of winter clothing and blankets which will go a long way to help them keep the less fortunate warm this winter.

They will continue to collect blankets, beanies and scarves throughout the year in preparation for next winter.
