Youngsters encouraged to follow their dreams

Tembisa youth has got talent.

Members of Social Crime Prevention, Youth Desk and Community Police Forum held a talent show at the Tembisa South Police Station on November 25.

Captain Neldah Sekgobela said the event was to uplift the youngsters and to discourage them from becoming drug addicts in Tembisa.

“The event was also combined with the launching of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.

“Members of the Tembisan, Grave Town Arts Foundation, Zinto, Coca Cola, Social Development, SABC 2, Waptrendz, Department of Justice, K2M Funerals and the Department of Community Safety attended the event in order to give their support,” said Capt Sekgobela.

“Zianda Nqolela of the Social Development’s human resource office mentioned that their department offers internships and bursaries and said those who are interested may visit their satellite office in Tembisa next to Rabasotho Hall,”said Captain Sekgobela.

Different stakeholders pledged their support to the talented young people.

Waptrendz representative Mr Sipho “Psy” Magosa said their company is able to help aspiring musicians to record their tracks with the top producers.

“Waptrendz is a content website designed for upcoming artists.”

“We offer the platform to a wide range of art forms so that artists can get more exposure, distribution and marketing channels.

“They send in their domo song and we listen to establish the kind of sound and content they have to offer,” said Johnson Manetje of Waptrendz.

He said musicians can make money from downloads of their songs done on the site.

Solly Mokgalabje of Still Rise said if ever someone has a talent, the Still Rise organisation is able to help them to get a slot at Thobela FM in order to get exposure.

The attending youth were encouraged to continue doing whatever they want regarding their careers
