The final countdown to the Photo and Film Expo has begun

The expo, which will be held at the Ticketpro Dome, in Northgate, from October 27 to 30, is Africa’s largest event of its kind.

The expo, which focuses on the local photographic and film industries, started in 2009, with this year (2016), the eighth annual event, promising to be even bigger and better than the last.

Open to the public, it caters for photographers and filmmakers of all skill levels and genres.

The expo offers visitors free workshops, the widest range of local and international photographic exhibitions and a chance to test/demo the equipment on show for themselves, as well as a chance to win some great prizes at the event.

Speakers set to wow the attending crowds include:

Zeno Peterson (https://instagram.com/zenography) who is a South-African cinematographer and Instagrammer.

His work focuses on portraits of people with whom he works or meets on the streets; by using light and shadows he tells each subject’s unique story.

Stephen Segal (https://www.stephen-segal.com/) travels the country and world educating and inspiring people to explore the beautiful creative world of photography.

“I have always loved to capture and portray life in its natural and sometimes vivid beauty,” he said.

Known for his abilities and insights into both photography and photographic equipment, he is able to create the perfect images on camera, using very little to no time post-editing his work.

Ilse Moore (https://www.ilsemoore.com/info@ilsemoore.com) comes from a water sport-loving, but creative family. Her love of art finally blended with her love for water through underwater fine art images.

She has since become renowned locally and internationally as an underwater fashion, portrait and fine art photographer.

Johnny Miller (https://www.facebook.com/unequalscenes), a photographer and videographer, focuses on issues of urbanisation, social justice, dignity, and spatial planning.

Originally from Seattle, he currently lives in Cape Town and has immersed himself in the inequalities of the social fabric, believing they are often hidden and hard to see from ground level.

Megan Mccabe (https://www.facebook.com/megmccabephotography), fresh from her latest photographic adventure, will present on her passion – capturing all the action of motorsport.

This self-taught photographer had hardly started in the motorsport industry when she achieved the Motorsport South Africa Photographer of the Year title in 2013.

Pursuing a passion for motorsport photography has led to the publication of her work in The Citizen, Bike SA and On the Track, which has included magazine covers and centre spread posters of her work.

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to learn from each of these amazing speakers and many more, and participate in a variety of hands-on workshops.
