#MakingIt – Stylist ready to dress SA men

Tembisa fashion stylist is ready to dress the nation.

Man.H Extravagant is a brand that is aiming to teach South African lads about appropriate fashion taste.

Commit to your memory the Man.H Extravagant brand because it is here to overhaul the Tembisa fashion scene.

The lanky owner of the brand Mr Harvey Khomola said style is not born out of expensive brands.

His explanation is that one doesn’t need to have a huge budget to look stylish.

“My business is to help clients who struggle to dress up for an occasion. This is done according to their specifications and needs,” said Harvey.

“Firstly we do a consultation with the client to find out what his/her needs are. At this stage we try to find out the type of people they are in terms of fashion specifications.”

He said the second phase is where the client decides whether they want to use the wardrobe they already have or they want to buy new clothes.

“We look at their budget when the client’s preferred option is buying a new wardrobe. I establish whether they want popular brands or are looking at using the services of a recognised designer,” said Harvey.

He said when the previous stages are complete, the work begins.

“The response is always positive because the client is then dressed up in a manner that makes them feel comfortable and they feel good about themselves,” Harvey said.

He said his first client was a guy by the name of Zuko.

“It was very overwhelming to get my very first client because I go to do what I love and had always dreamt about.”

Harvey said it was easy working with Mr Mkhonyani.

“He is a close friend. He knew my style. He believed in my capabilities and my talent,” he said.

Man.H Extravagant’s first client, Mr Mkhonyani, was out of varsity and he wanted a new look befitting of a corporate environment.

“His wardrobe needed a total revamp and fortunately he had the budget. He decided on the shopping option and it was fun for both of us.”

He said that experience made his client realise that he actually didn’t need a big budget to look good.

“That gave me courage going forward. It gave me confidence to start a fashion blog,” he said.

Harvey is inspired by Shaun Stylist, a local fashionista who is by far a trend-setter.

Harvey wants to gain more exposure and work with well-known men in the entertainment industry.

An online magazine is also in his plans and he hopes to get endorsements from bigger brands.

This young accounting student has an innate gift and he was only 14 years old when he stopped his mom from choosing clothes for him.

He said thereafter he would save up to buy clothes that suited his style.

“I have my own style and I am a showstopper when I get to events. I turn heads,” he said.
