The Tembisa SAPS celebrated Heritage Day at the East Rand Water Care Company (ERWAT) on September 22.

Constable Patricia Mgijima said the SAPS members showcased their colourful and beautiful traditional attire, food and traditional dancing from different cultures.

“The station commander, Brigadier Vuyokazi Ndebele, showed up in her Xhosa regalia and she celebrated with everyone present,” said Const Mgima.

“Everyone explained how they prepared their traditional food.”

Const Mgijima said SAPS members explained how and when they wear their clothes because there are garments for different occasions.

“There are traditional garments for young girls, traditional garments for old women, married women and for mourning.”
