About 20 workers rushed to hospital after gas leak

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate and fix the source of the leak

AROUND 20 workers have been transported to hospital after a gas leak occurred at a business in Elandsfontein this morning.

Max Cohen of Emer-G-Med said just after 10am multiple Emer-G-Med and Netcare911 vehicles were dispatched to the scene.

“It’s believed there was a gas leak in the building, which was inhaled by the workers – leaving upwards of 20 patients with varying degrees of illness and injury.

“Paramedics worked on the scene to triage and stabilise the patients before they were rapidly transported to various hospitals for further management, some of them on advanced life support care.
