AFRIFORUM started to repair 214 m2 of potholes in Kempton Park’s streets, at a cost of R40 000, over the weekend.

Potholes were repaired on Beukes Road, corner of Bosloerie- en Simba streets, corner of Olienhout and Helm streets, corner of Maroela and Dikbas streets and at the corner of Patridge and Miller streets.

This is one of the projects that AfriForum launched as part of the organisation’s #selfdoen (self-do) initiative, and forms part of the organisation’s national pothole month, that kicked off on May 9.

This month will see R2-million being spent countrywide to repair potholes.

The costs will be recovered from the relevant municipalities.

“We should become less dependent on the government and rather be self-sufficient,” said Wico Swanepoel, AfriForum’s provincial coordinator for Gauteng South.
