Less burglaries but more robberies in Norkem Park Precinct

Police say housebreaking incidents have decreased due to team work shown between the community, police and other law enforcers

HOUSEBREAKING and theft cases reported at Norkem Park SAPS have declined in February and March.

This is according to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.

“Housebreaking incidents have decreased due to teamwork shown between the community, police and other law enforcers. The community has played an important role by phoning the police, metro police, security and CPF patrollers about suspicious persons and cars,” said Molokomme.

Molokomme added that the respective law enforcement entities responded swiftly to complaints and in some instances suspects were arrested or crimes were prevented before taking place.

“In theft cases, in most instances the two parties knew each other, where employers opened cases against employees and so on. The two parties would mostly come to an agreement, or property suspected stolen was found misplaced by the employee. The station commander appeals to the community to be certain before opening such cases,” he added.

Molokomme pointed out that the only problematic crimes experienced in the Norkem Park policing area were house robberies and hijacking in all sectors.

“This can also be brought under control through teamwork between the community and law enforcers.”
