Centurion man shot and killed in Tembisa hijacking

The hunt is on for the suspects who are still at large

A 37-year-old Centurion man in a Chevrolet SUV was shot and killed when his vehicle was hijacked in in Mqantsa Section in Tembisa on Friday afternoon at 3pm.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said it was suspected that the perpetrators of the crime were after the load of boxes of cigarettes in the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered an hour later in Oakmoor ext 7.

“EMPD and police members responded swiftly after hearing of the crime in search of the vehicle and the persons involved. The vehicle was traced to Oakmoor where it was found abandoned with its load intact. The suspects had fled.”

A case of murder and vehicle hijacking was registered at Tembisa Police Station. The vehicle was taken to Benoni SAPS pound for safe-keeping. It was established that the victim was from Olievenhoutbosch in Centurion.

The hunt is on for the suspects who are still at large.
