Brightening their smiles, Mandela style

Caxton local newspapers, in partnership with Hirsch’s Homestore, celebrated Mandela Day by brightening the smiles of many unfortunate children on the East Rand.

Members of the public were asked to donate toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to children who are less fortunate. Three Hirsch’s stores (Fourways, Boksburg and Meadowdale) participated in this special project. The initiative, which ran under the hashtag #67smiles #67Minutes, saw over 400 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste being collected, with a huge donation coming from dedicated Hirsch team members from each branch.
Epworth Children’s Village in Germiston, an organisation which runs programmes to promote children’s all-round development by strengthening their emotional resilience and increasing their capacity for learning to adapt to a rapidly changing world, was one of the chosen charities to receive these toiletries.

“No child should go without basic hygiene and this campaign is making sure that is achieved,”said Beverly , Regional PRO for Hirch’s Home-store.

Beverley Kibby, Public Relations and Marketing Officer for Hirschs said that its a privilege that we are a part of this campaign and thanked the community for donating these items.
