Brightening their smiles, Mandela style

Caxton local newspapers, in partnership with Hirsch’s Homestore, celebrated Mandela Day by brightening the smiles of many unfortunate children on the East Rand.

Members of the public were asked to donate toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste to children who are less fortunate. Three Hirsch’s stores (Fourways, Boksburg and Meadowdale) participated in this special project. The initiative, which ran under the hashtag #67smiles #67Minutes, saw over 400 toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste being collected, with a huge donation coming from dedicated Hirsch team members from each branch.

Marias Orphanage, in Windmill Park, Boksburg, was one the chosen charity torecieve these items.

“You might think that this is small, but to us and the children, this is more that you can imagine,” said Maria.

She also thanked Hirsch’s and Caxton in initiating this campaign for local charities

Beverley Kibby, Public Relations and Marketing Officer for Hirsch’s said that it’s a privilege that we are a part of this campaign and thanked the community for donating these items.
