Old age home receives donations

Edenhaven recieved donations in honour of Mandela Day.

Edenhaven, a retirement home in Edenvale, was visited by local businesses in honor of celebrating Mandela Day.

Edenhaven is an organisation that seeks to create a family vibe for the elderly living within the home.

Businesses such as Pick n Pay and Builders Express donated to the home in honour of the 67 minutes for Mandela Day. Builders Express reached out by volunteering to provide painted sections for parking at the old age home .

“We want to give something back to the community. Not only honouring a legend, but the community has supported us for a very long time and we would love to do something small in return,” said Mr Ruan Van Zyl, the branch manager for Builders Express.

Pick n Pay provided the home with a variety of products as well as cake and flowers.

“We are happy to give back to the community for our 67 minutes, it is all about helping where we can,” said Ms Deidre Terblanche, from Pick n Pay.

Ms Karen Morritt, a volunteer at the Edenhaven home, expressed her gratitude for all the donations they have received.

“It is absolutely amazing that the community wants to help the organisation, especially with the little things that need to be done,” she said.
