Mafikizolo FC dominate opponents

Mafikizolo FC from Katlehong beat Winnie Mandela FC 2-0 in an entertaining, but one-sided, game played at the Winnie Mandela Grounds on Sunday.

The lads from Katlehong taught the locals a free lesson in soccer in the first half, playing one-touch football. Their undoing was instead of shooting, they wanted to walk the ball into the net. The score sheet was still 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Mafikizolo FC added more pressure to their opponents and started creating scoring opportunities. Kabelo Ledwaba and Sifisiso Molefe were at their best in the midfield, and used their dribbling skills to unlock the stubborn Winnie Mandela defence.

It came as no surprise when Ledwaba dribbled past three defenders before unleashing a powerful shot. The ‘keeper palmed the ball over the bar for a corner kick. Molefe curled his corner kick into the danger area before Mathoma Mafunise scored with a powerful header. Mafunise scored the second goal when he finished off a good cross from the left flank.

After the second goal, Mafikizolo FC started toying with their opponents, to the delight of football fans. The locals were chasing their own shadows for the final 10 minutes, until the referee blew the final whistle.
