Vardos FC promises stiff challenge

If Vardos FC and Santos FC's current form is anything to go by, then the game between the two teams in the National First Divison match at the Makhulong Stadium on Friday this week will be a humdinger.

The game starts at 7.30pm. Vardos beat the high-riding Baroka FC 3-1 at home two weeks ago and then drew 2-2 with Witbank Spurs in Mpumalanga last week.

In fact, since they bough Roses FC, the local lads have only lost once in six games. On the other hand, Santos has not lost a game since the league started earlier this season. They are also known for their strong defence, but teams from Cape Town always struggle when they play in hot conditions. The home team will rely on the experience of Collen Zimba, who is a lethal striker who played in the elite league before. Zimba used to form a deadly striking parnership with current Kaizer Chiefs striker, Bernard Parker, when the two were playing for Benoni United.

Sinky Mnisi, the owner of Vardos, or Amavara as it is affectionally known said, “We will rely on our home-ground advantage and the community to help us.”

The Makhulong Stadium is known as a place of pain and suffering for visiting teams.

“The entry fee is R5 for men, while women and children will be enter for free. ABI will provide musicand we are invite everyone to attend and support us,” said Mnisi.
