Amavarara comes home

Vardos FC, currently known as Roses United FC until they change their status, will play against the newly-promoted Baroka FC at the Makhulong Stadium on Friday night.

The local lads will be playing at the stadium for the first time since the beginning of the year.

Former Orlando Pirates’ scoring machine, Phumudzo “The Bold and the Beautiful” Manenzhe, is now Vardos FC’s team manager.

He says that even though Baroka FC is on-form at the moment, they will never leave Makhulong Stadium with points.

“The boys have been training hard for this game and are raring to go. When we took over, the players were still a bit nervous about playing in the elite division, but they have now settled down and can face any team in the National First Division (NFD),” he said.

Since the new management took over, the team has played three games and lost only one against Chippa United in Cape Town.

“We are calling on all football fans in Tembisa and the surrounding areas to converge on Makhulong Stadium tonight to see their own boys taking on Baroka FC. We are going to win,” he said.

Mr Manenzhe said all the team needs at the moment is support.

“The management has done its part, the team is now rock-solidand all we need is your support,” he said.

Entry to the game is only R5 for men, while women and children will see the game for free.

“We are doing this because it is our first game at home. Next time people will pay R10,” he said.

Known as Amavarara by thousands of their supporters, the team is hoping to give their best.
