100s join the champion dancers

When the internationally acclaimed champion dancers, Paul Modjadji and Khulisa Social Solutions, launched their Daring to Dream movement at Entjonalanga Park to celebrate the last day of Women's Month on August 31, 2013, over 100 community members were lifted by hope.

Mr Modjadji instilled the importance of dreaming, saying, “Everyone needs to dream in order to look forward to something positive,”.

In celebration of Women’s Month, Khulisa Social Solutions, the Ekurhuleni Municipality Social Workers, the Gauteng Province and the Department of Social Development co-hosted the event. The theme was Daring to Dreamand it was spearheaded by international champion dancer Paul Modjadji.

The Daring to Dream campaign aims to forge a commitment to inspire, empower and enable South African children to unlock their potential and to develop their resilience, despite their circumstances.

However, two key findings from the research conducted indicate that 100 percent of the participants present felt the workshop had met all their expectations.

“It has motivated me to become more involved in social crime prevention by involving other partners with the relevant skills”, said one of the community members.

As a show of Khulisa’s commitment to the community members present, the majority of whom were women, a further workshop was held a week ago at the Tembisa Youth Centre in Phomolong.

The purpose was to ascertain the immediate, most pressing needs in Tembisa that addressed by programmes specifically focused on empowering women.
