Security guards robbed in Tembisa

Armed men fled with an undisclosed amount of money after robbing SBV security guards at the Tembisa Plaza on Thursday last week.

The robbers allegedly surprised the security guards when they were about to load cash into a Standard Bank ATM.

According to the Tembisa police spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, the robbers fled in a white Toyota bakkie.

Const Sesing said the security guards claimed there were possibly seven armed men.

“The guards say the robbers started shooting at them before robbing them of the money. One security guard was shot in the face and leg, and a 38-year old man was also shot by the robbers,” said Const Sesing.

The getaway vehicle was later found abandoned at Birch Acres. There are claims that after abandoning the bakkie, the suspects then used a Toyota Quantum to make good their escape.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects can contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111, 112, or they can send an sms to 32211.

“Let us work together to root out crime in Tembisa,” said Const Sesing.
