Driver seriously injured after accident
One person was seriously injured after the driver of a red sedan lost control of his car and hit a blue sedan before rolling several times next to the Mvelaphanda Primary School on Sunday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses claimed they saw the red sedan driving at high speed shortly before the accident occurred.
A woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said she was nearly struck by the car.
“I was waiting for a taxi when I saw the red sedan driving at high speed. Suddenly I saw it hit the other car on the side and start rolling. It missed me by an inch. Those who were in the car were not injured. They pushed the car to the side and disappeared,” she said.
When the Metro Police arrived, the occupants of the red sedan were nowhere to be seen.
Residents called for an ambulanceand the driver of the blue sedan was attended to by paramedics on the scene, before being taken to hospital.
No comment was forthcoming from the police at the time of going to print.
