Woman gang raped in taxi

The victim claimed she boarded a taxi with her 4-year-old son at Sedibeng section, going to the Oakmoor taxi rank

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped at an open veld near Oakmoor railway station, opposite the Sethokga Hostel in the early hours of Tuesday morning last week.

The victim claimed she boarded a taxi with her 4-year-old son at Sedibeng section, going to the Oakmoor taxi rank.

The victim said there were three men in the taxi. She said the driver then drove in the wrong direction.

The suspects stopped at an open veld near the Sethokga Hostel and dragged her out, leaving her child with one of the man. The victim told the police the men then took turns raping her.

Afterwards, the men dropped her on the side of a street. She went to the Tembisa SAPS and laid a charge of rape.

“We are appealing to community members to assist with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects. We urge residents to be more careful when they board taxis when it is dark. Anyone who may have seen the incident is requested to contact the police on 011 926-2970 or 0860 10111. Informants can also sms information to 32211,” said The Tembisa SAPS station commander, Brigadier Johan Jacobs.
