Group pleads for sponsorships

The founder of the MK drum majorettes, Martha Kunene from Leboeng section in Tembisa, is pleading for sponsors.

The MK drum majorettes were formed early in February this year and consists of girls and boys between the ages of 6 to 16. There are currently 52 members in the group.

Kunene said her group is talented, dedicated and hardworking. They have the desire to expand their horizons by participating in all activities.

“We have two teams, the junior and senior teams. We do not have the proper attire or all the instruments, but that does not stop us. We only need members of the community to support us so that we can grow,” she said.

The group participates for the community during parties or weddings to expose their talent.

“As a team, every movement has to be sharp and in unison. My aim is to see the group performing in the top level of competition in the country,” she added.

The team practices every Friday after school, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

When preparing for competitions, the group practices from Monday to Friday to perfect their routines, correct mistakes and add any final touches.

For more information about the group, contact Martha Kunene on 082 504 5521.
