The children with disabilities, and their caregivers, were entertained for the day by Kami and Neo, who entertained everyone with dancing and music
The Takalani Sesame characters were brought to the centre by Sanlam, who has taken the step to adopt the centre. In addition to bringing the television characters to the children, Sanlam also provided office equipment, security alarms, toys and many other items.
Sphiwe Sithole, the senior manager at Sanlam, said she met with Centre Manager Nina Mabaso in Pretoria, who explained to her about the centre and what was needed.
“When I was approached by Mrs Mabaso, I was very happy because I knew we would help. I spoke to management and decided to see what is needed in the centre. We allocated our used office material to them,” said Sithole.
She added that they are passionate about children and their early development and stimulation. “We have adopted the centreand we are ready to assist where possible. We are giving back to the community because we are a caring company. A hand that gives is a hand that receives. We hope God will blessthem with more gifts from other companies and business people,” she added.
Mabaso said she was delighted to have people from Sanlam, who made a different in the lives of the disabled. “I felt blessed and honoured because this is what we needed most for our centre to grow. We appreciate what they have done for us and for cheering up our children. The children watch these characters on television every morning after their exercises,” she said. Caregivers were also given goodie-bags for their commitment and good work at the centre.
