Tembisa police make over 50 arrests

The police arrested 16 suspects for the possession of dagga, one for nyaope and six for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A range of other arrests were also made, ranging from theft and shoplifting, to malicious damage to property.

According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, police also received information from the community about a man who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Esselen Park.

“The police proceeded to the place and found a 20-year-old sitting in a car inside the yard. While searching him, the police found a firearm. When asked for the license, the man failed to produce it. He was arrested and detained at the Tembisa police cells,” said Const Sesing. He added that the police encourage community members to continue giving them information about crime occurring in the area.

“Let’s work together and make Tembisa a crime-free area,” he said.
