The accident happened at the intersection of Monument Road and Commissioner Street around 2pm. The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on Monument Road.

According to an eyewitness, Desire Phiri, who were waiting to cross the road, the bakkie was travelling towards the CBD and a red Alpha Romeo towards Glen Marais. It is alleged that the Alpha wanted to turn right onto Commisioner Street and was hit by the bakkie.

The Gauteng emergency medial services took the driver of the bakkie to Arwyp Hospital.
